Muğla Fethiye Museum

The idea of exhibiting the opuses belonging to the region in a location in the district that is rich in terms of Archaeology belongs to the authorities of that period at the beginning of 1960s and the first core of the museum has occurred in those years. After that, large scaled stone opuses collected from the surrounding have been protected in a depot; with the building constructed in 1987, contemporary museum understanding became dominant and the opuses have been served to the visitors. Fethiye Museum consists of two halls, one for Archaeology and the other for ethnography. Almost all of the opuses exhibited in these two halls have been compiled from Fethiye and its surroundings. Manisa Museum

The province Manisa, which has been established on the northern skirts of the mountain that has been known as Sypylos since the archaic periods, is one of the residence locations that could continue its life until today. In accordance with Homer, Manisa and its surroundings have been established by Magnets from Teselia, who participated Troia War and has been a civilization cradle especially during 7th - 6th centuries BC in the period of Lydians. Manisa has been one of the most important cities also in the time of Roman and Byzantine Empires. Manisa, which has been the capital city of Saruhanoğulları Principality founded by Saruhanbey in 1313 and the city of princes in the Ottoman Period has changed its religious, cultural and architectural face in the Republic Period and has been a modern city of the Republic Period. Konya Mevlana Museum

mevlana-museum.jpgMevlana Dergahı (Dervish Lodge) which is presently used as a museum formerly the Rose Garden of the Seljuks Palace it was given as a gift to Mevlana’s father Sultanü’l-Ulema Bahaaeddin Veled by Sultan Alaeddin Keykubad

When Sultanü’l-Ulema died on 12 January 1231, he was buried in the present grave which is in the mausoleum. This was the first burial ever to take place in the Rose Garden. (more…)

AKŞEHİR MUSEUMS

The first settling findings of Akşehir, which has always been a settlement centre in the history, have been found in the Neolithic Age as a result of the surface researches. From that period to now, it has always been settled on and as it is on important passages, it has always been damaged. Akşehir, which is situated in Phrygia Parrore region, is known as Philomelion. The word “Philomelion” is written on silt stone found in a place near to today’s Centre. This silt stone, which is the only written document, can be seen in the Archaeology Museum. (more…)

Kırşehir Museum

kirsehir.gifThe research and excavations of the recent years have shown that human settlements in Kırşehir started in 3000 B.C. Ceramic pieces from that period are found in the tumuli of Kırşehir. The archaeological excavations undertaken at Hashöyük, a village of the central district of Kırşehir, in 1930 by Turkish and Italian archaeologists revealed pieces of pottery from 3000 B.C.

In 2000 B.C we see the start of Assyrian Trade Colonies period and the Hittite period. Two altars with cow head protoms from Old Hittite Period brought to the Hirfanlı Dam Operations from the shores of the Kızılırmak River, Malkayası with hieroglyph inscriptions and known as Hitite road inscription located between the villages of Sevdiğin and Kale, also the seals, ceramic kitchen utensils, public buildings with walls etc found at Kaman Kale Tumulus are important traces of the Hittite period. Kırklareli Museum

The building, which was visited by the Great Leader Atatürk on December 20th, 1930 which was constructed by Mutasarrıf Neşet Pasha and Hacı Mestan Efendi, who was the mayor at that time, in 1894. It has been used as the municipality building actively until 1962 and was left to destruction in 1970 being completely emptied.

Restoration, exhibition and arrangement works, which were started in 1983 and continued with intervals, were completed in 1993.
There are arched windows on four sides of the reinforced concrete building having two floors except the basement and there is a bay window resting on four columns at the entrance. Archaeology and ethnography sections are in the upper floor and there is a Culture and Nature exhibition hall on the ground floor. (more…)

Kayseri Museums

It was first established in 1930 in the Hunat Hatun Medrese and moved to its present building built on Kışla Street in Gültepe section of the city in 1969. The collection is displayed in two large halls and the garden, in a chronological order.

The display in the first hall starts with samples of the plain and coloured ceramics of the Old Bronze Age and alabaster idols. These are followed by items from Kültepe excavations which belong to the Assyrian merchantilist Colonies Age which are given typologically.They include inscribed tablets, round, beak and clover mouthed jugs, bowls, vases, fruit cups, animal shaped drink cups (Rython), moulds, metal items, syclindirical seals and seal presses. In the narrow south section of the same hall there are the stone statues of the Late Hittite age and hieroglyph inscribed steles. (more…)

KARS MUSEUM AND ITS HISTORY

Kars has a vast surrounding and many nations and civilizations have established, lived and developed on it from 25.000 BC till now. For this reason, its need for a museum had increased day by day. In the Republic Period, some stone works have been collected from some places and as a result of this a museum was opened in Kars for the first time, forming the base of the Kars Museum in 1959 in one of the rooms of the old province government house by Dr. Budak DEMİRAL, the President of the People’s House of that period and by Hasan KARTARİ, the Director General of Public Education with the name of “Protecting Old Works of Art and Museum Directorate”. With this meaningful attempt, the studies of collecting old works have increased and the collected works were registered within the existing opportunities. (more…)

Karaman Museum

The museum is located at the city centre on the former Hastahane Caddesi now named as the Turgut Özal Caddesi and behind the Hatuniye Medresse which is one of the best examples of the architecture of the Karamanoğulları Principality Era.

In Karaman and its environs traces of a large number of civilizations both from the pre-historic and historic periods are evident. Today both Karaman and the nearby region display a large number of mounds and historical sites. However as museum activity had a late start in Karaman, many of the portable works discovered at these sites were removed to other museums. (more…)

Kahramanmaras Museum

History of the Museum

The first museum in Kahramanmaraş has been established in the building known as Taş Madrasa belonging to the 16th century that is located on Belediye Street of Ekmekçi Quarter in the city centre, in 1947. Colonel H. Nuri Yurdakul has expressed the idea of establishing the museum for the first time and had an important role in its establishment. The museum consisted of pictures belonging to the February 12th independence heroes and Atatürk and some other works at the beginning. (more…)
